IntellIM Instant Messenger
Step 1: Register for an account with Intellim
Go to http://www.intellim.com/register.php (http://www.intellim.com/register.php) and fill out the registration form.
Your username should be your Ideltech login name (eg mthesburg).
Specify your Ideltech e-mail address.
Step 2: Download the client program If you are using Windows XP or Windows 2000, you should have no trouble installing and running the standard client from Intellim.com (3mb download). intellimsetup.exe (http://www.intellimresearch.com/client/intellimsetup.exe)
If you had trouble with the Intellim client, or are using a different operating system, read on
All you need to connect to the intellim chat service is a Jabber client, and the following settings:
- Server: intellim.com
- Port: 5222
- User directory: ldapusers.intellim.com
- Chat rooms: conference.intellim.com
Windows 98 - Detailed instructions for MirandaIM (http://miranda-im.org/) (less than 1mb download). Under the Jabber settings, use your username and password that you signed up for at www.intellim.com (see above). Change the server to intellim.com and leave the port at 5222.
To be able to search the intellim user directory you need to
- Go to the M-menu then Options
- Click on Network, Jabber on the left hand side.
- Make sure that the Show Expert Options box is checked.
- Change the User directory entry to ldapusers.intellim.com
- Click ok.
- You can now add users by going to the M-menu, then Find/Add contacts.
- Click on the M-menu, then Jabber, then Multi-User Conference.
- Change the Conference server to conference.intellim.com
- Click on Browse
- Select the room you want
Macintosh - download JabberFoX jabberfox.sourceforge.net
Unix or other system - Try the list at jabber.org (http://www.jabber.org/software/clients.php?)
Linux/Unix, Mac, Windows - Gaim (http://gaim.sf.net/) (5.5mb download) is another option known to work under win98.
Windows ME - Exodus (http://exodus.jabberstudio.org/)
